Today’s Friday Buzz is dedicated to one topic instead of four or five: my new book, Into the Soul of the World: My Journey to Healing.
I haven’t celebrated my book’s release since restarting this “Enlightented-ish with Brad Wetzler newsletter.”
So, here goes!
My new book Into the Soul of the World: My Journey to Healing is now available from Hachette Go, an imprint of the Hachette Book Group.
This book is a memoir, and, as with any decent memoir, I get very vulnerable with my struggles and insights into the world of personal transformation. One reviewer called me “recklessly vulnerable,” a critique I will take as a compliment. In addition to sharing the stories of my life, in this book, I go into serious detail about topics like father-son relationships, toxic masculinity, our traumatizing culture, the shadow side of psychiatry, the medicalization of our mental health system, family scapegoating in dysfunctional and addicted families, love, sex, and…adventure.
Into the Soul of the World is, at root, an adventure story, a page-turner, and three stories in one: 1.) my rise and fall as an adventure journalist who wrote for some of the best magazines in the U.S. 2) my spiritual journey from childhood Jesus Freak to cynical journalist to open-hearted middle-aged spiritual being and yogi 3) my 30 years as a psychiatric patient (and addict to practically every psych drug ever produced).
Yes, like life itself, it’s complicated. But I believe Into the Soul of the World is a powerful story that connects personal transformation with global healing. We humans can do better.
Sending love to all.
